Established in 1979, Rainford
Garden Supplies started life as
a farm based family run business
nestled in the rich fertile
landscape towards the Merseyside
Lancashire border. Our
turf farm specialised in
supplying graded lawn turf to
local homes and gardens around Rainford, St. Helens, in the
north west of England.
Initially the slabs and rolls of
turf we supplied were hand cut
with a Ryan Turf Cutter.
As our business expanded, we began
growing and supplying cultivated
seeded turf, which was cut
with large tractor driven
machinery capable of cutting the
turf into yard long rolls (or
metre rolls), all of which was
done our working turf farms.
In the 1990's we diversified
into the wholesale sector and
began to supply bags and sacs of
our quality graded topsoil to
builders merchants and garden
centres across the north west of
England.
Lancashire is famous for the
production of rich fertile soil,
and we were soon not only
delivering to the general public
but also supplying the trade
with bulk tipped loose loads of
quality graded top soil and
compost.
By this time, Rainford Garden
Supplies was growing several
grades of lawn turf aimed at
both bulk supplies for the trade
and turf rolls by the pallet for the
domestic market, all grown on
our own turf farms. To this day,
all our lawn turf is cut fresh
and to order which ensures the
delivery of a top
quality product.

Turf
is a perishable product and
should be ordered for delivery
ideally for the day you are
ready to turf the area. Never
water the turf rolls when they
are rolled up. During the summer
and warm weather it will be
necessary to water your turf
twice a day.
Rainford Garden Supplies then progressed to the supply of an ever changing range of landscape materials along with our
turf and topsoil to a network of garden centres, builder's merchants
and farm shops as well as the general public. So began Country Garden Supplies (a division of Alan Griffiths Turf Farms and Rainford Turf & Topsoil).
Our reputation has grown, we are
well known for the production of
quality graded topsoil, compost
and our ability to blend
soils for specific purposes,
such as turfing and borders. We
sell and
deliver topsoil and compost in
bulk to bowling clubs,
nurseries, allotment holders and the general public all over
the UK.
We
supply blended and screened top
soils that are fertile and
available in 1 tonne bags. Our soils are consistently tested and are approved for local authority use.
Nationwide delivery service is available for our top soils which we supply as
bulk tipped loose loads or 1 tonne jumbo sacs.
Top soils suitable for borders, growing, planting, turfing mixes
are tested to BS3882 and available all year round.

We stock a good quality play
bark. This play bark is a
play certified bark
suitable for play groups, schools, nurseries
and children's play areas. We also carry a
range of ornamental garden
barks, available in sacs or bulk tipped
loose loads for trade and
wholesale use.
We continue to expand and now
stock a diverse range of
aggregates in the form of garden gravels and slate, this is also available in bulk tipped loose loads, 1 ton jumbo sacs, or if its just a small amount you require, we have easy to handle 25kg bags
of both garden gravel and slate.
HOW WE DELIVER AROUND THE NORTH WEST:
90% of deliveries to locations around the northwest of
England will be with our own company vehicles, many with crane offload.
HOW WE DELIVER NATIONWIDE UK:
Unless otherwise advised,
nationwide UK delivery will be
made via pump pallet truck
as outlined below and not on crane lorries.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please be aware that with nationwide UK deliveries using a pump pallet truck, it will not be possible to deliver over walls or uneven surfaces and steep inclines.

for a large delivery vehicle
when ordering large bulk
loads. For

We have a trade counter and a collection facility
at our turf farm, but
since it is a working farm would always advise that you ring prior to collection
which will ensure the relevant member of staff
will be available to assist you.
We grow approx 15 acres of woodland
at Rainford Garden Supplies to help with our firewood production
which we deliver nationwide.
We supply both hardwoods and softwoods from a sustainable managed source, all of
which have been well seasoned.
All woods are processed by us into logs and kindling and
barn stored until they are
delivered nationwide to an ever-growing network of garden centres, builders merchants, farm shops, garages,
etc as well as supplying the local domestic market.
When storing firewood for the coming season or even the next season, it's always better to store
fire wood off the ground so air can pass beneath it.
